The battle with Father was long over, I myself was no longer a feared criminal, though the actions I did in the past still haunt me. I was able to walk the streets without fear, which even after so long I still hadn't quite gotten used to it. I had been slowly gaining reputation with the people of Amestris, and slowly telling of the events in Ishval, in hopes to make this land better. I had decided that today I would travel to Resembool to see Edward Elric, for he had sent a letter asking for my presence on some matter he had run upon. I had boarded the train and arrived in at Resembool later in the afternoon. I stepped off the train into the small and quaint town of Resembool. It did not take me long to track up the hill leading to Edward's home. Upon reaching the top I was greeted by Edward's son, who ran a few circles around me and went to tell his father of my arrival, Already referring to me as 'Uncle Scar'. Edward went out to greet me followed by the younger brother Alphonse. The two brothers tried to explain the problem they had run upon but, their voices melded together and became indistinguishable from one another's. I sighed and then spoke,
"Perhaps I should see this problem you are speaking of?"
The two looked at one another and nodded. Edward knelt down to his son and told him to go get Y/N. What a Y/N was I knew not, perhaps some sort of alchemic problem? Soon Edward's son returned, and following behind him was-
An Ishvalin Girl. 
A small girl, maybe Eight or nine was tagging behind the boy. When her eyes landed on me she stopped and silently observed me, there was so much knowledge floating in the small child's eyes.
"You're of Ishval," She said
"That is correct," I answered her and then directed my attention to Edward "Who is this child?"
"This is Y/N, we found her, Y/N doesn't-she doesn't have any parents, so we hoped you could maybe take her, perhaps bring her to an Ishvalin camp?"
I looked at Edward I understood that he wasn't pleased with the girls lack of parent's seeing as he lost one of his at such a young age similar to the girl.
"I will see what I can do" I replied
I looked at the child again, she looked up at me from her spot behind Alphonse.
"Well, child do you wish to go with me?"
Alphonse patted her head, and she nodded it.
"Do you wish to get your belongings?"
She nodded and ran back into the Elric's home. She appeared again several moments later, with a small bag.
"Alright child, say your goodbyes"
She nodded and went to hug everyone.
"Come back soon" Edward's son whimpered.
She nodded and went to me, her red eyes shimmering.
"Well child, let us go"
"Very well" She replied "Goodbye," she said a last time as we walked back down the hill from which I came.
We both boarded the train and traveled to Riviere, from which I knew of a large Ishvalin settlement there. 
"How did you get that scar?" The child asked. I looked at the child and smiled softly.
"It was in the Ishvalin War"
"Oh, I'm sorry"
"What for?"
"Asking. A lot of bad things happened to us in the Ishvalin War"
I looked at her, she could only have been about two or three when Ishvalin War happened.
"Did you lose something in the war as well?" I asked but, the minute I spoke the words I regretted it. There was only one thing a child lost in a war that they really cared about, everything else that was lost fades as the years go by but, one thing remains pain-strikingly fresh.
"My parents" She whispered
"I'm sorry" I murmured, unsure how to comfort the child.
"It's okay" She stated, trying to hide her building tears.
I brought the child into a hug, in hopes, this would comfort her and, help her hide her flowing tears. After a while, the child's sob's turned into soft hiccups.
"Thank you" She whispered
I said nothing but, smiled slightly at the child who was still grasping my form. I enjoyed the child's presence more than I was willing to admit, it was comforting in a way. It seemed to make me forget all of my wrong-doing's if only for a short while. All too soon, we arrived at Riviere. A slight part of me wanted to keep the child with me but for her own safety, it was better I leave her here. When the two of us arrived at the settlement many Ishvalins came to greet us. Y/N kept a tight grip on my hand. I went to the talk to the leader of this encampment, I explained Y/N's situation to him and he told me of a small couple unable to conceive and that Y/N would fit there perfectly. I nodded and left his tent. 
"No" Y/N stated," I want to stay with you"
"Do you really, child?" I asked thinking the little one would much prefer the nice couple over me.
She nodded her small head. I knew I should not let the temptation of keeping the child with me get the better of my judgment.
"Very well child" 
"Thank you," She said giddily. As she took hold of my hand. It may not be safe for the child but that just means I must go through the extra effort of protecting her. So we walked back to the train as the sun started to set.
